Environmental Conservation in Japan

We are making further efforts toward zero emission and toward reducing CO2 emission

To secure a workplace with less environmental burden, we are aggressively working on waste reduction, recycling, pollution prevention, resource conservation, CO2 emission reduction, etc.

Global Warming Prevention

Aiming to reduce CO2 emission, which is known as one of major causes of global warming, Alpine is working on reducing electricity consumption and other energy consumption. In 2006, despite an increase in electricity consumption for the manufacturing equipment system due to expansion of business and introduction of new equipment, we could successfully attain about a 0.98% decrease in electricity consumption and about a 3.6% decrease in total energy consumption from the 2005 levels (based on basic unit) through our energy-saving efforts.

We are implementing effective energy use by monitoring power consumption and room temperature in real time, and controlling air conditioners and other related equipment.

■Introduction of Energy-saving Type Facility

Alpine has a “constant temperature/humidity bath” which can reproduce in-vehicle environmental conditions of all regions in the world and test product operating conditions. In 2006, a new energy-saving type bath was introduced.

From electricity consumption reduction to CO2 emission reduction

Today there is an upsurge of news on abnormal climate caused by global warming and occurrences of resultant disasters. In these circumstances, global warming prevention is considered as one of the most important issues in the environmental preservation activity. Alpine has been working to reduce electricity consumption for reduction of greenhouse gas emission. During 2006, to deal with the power consumption increase due to business expansion, our emphasis was placed especially on energy saving in the manufacturing process by introducing energy-saving type manufacturing equipment while reviewing existing equipment. In 2007, in addition to further implementation of energy saving in the manufacturing process, we are working on reducing consumption of other energy as well as electricity and on reducing CO2 emission in the logistics process.
