Sharing Ideas with Local Business Groups
Alpine energetically exchanges information about our environmental activities with local business owners. For example, we take part in environmental seminars sponsored by local business groups. At a seminar hosted last year by an association of corporate executives in Iwaki City, we discussed our environmental activities and shared ideas on current environmental trends and the issues companies must contend with today.

Taking Part in Local Environmental Activities
Alpine takes part in environmental activities held in Fukushima Prefecture, home of our head office, and also exchanges ideas and information with local groups. At a Global Warming Forum hosted by Fukushima Prefecture, we talked about our efforts to mitigate global warming. We also received an Award of Excellence for our efforts to develop eco-conscious products.

Giving Recommendations to Local Government
Alpine dispatched employees to take part in an environmental policy research project that was initiated by a local government and brought together representatives from industry, academia and the public. One of our roles in the project was to conduct research on environmental issues from the viewpoints of residents, local government and others, with the aim of creating a system for promoting voluntary environmental activities. We reaffirmed the corporate world's responsibility for protecting the environment and made recommendations on effective corporate environmental policies.

Raising Employee Awareness
Environmental Audit and Recommendations
Alpine Electronics of the UK requested an environmental audit and recommendations from the Carbon Trust, a non-profit organization set up to help companies reduce CO2 emissions. The audit helped raise employee awareness of ideas and efforts aimed at creating a low-CO2 society, such as Green Travel and the Cycle to Work program.

Environmental Household Accounts
To support employees in their efforts to reduce environmental impact in the home, we have introduced the concept of environmental household accounts. These allow employees to "visualize" CO2 emissions as they keep track of their energy consumption at home, such as electric power, gas, gasoline, etc., just as they would with their household finances.
