Untold Drama behind Development

Product Development

Attending to market needs for
increased eco-awareness

The key in product planning of the X07 was determining what high added-value functions should be provided to reinforce Drive Assist. Based on market trend analysis indicating increased eco awareness due to rising gasoline prices, etc., we focused on the innovative eco-drive function — a first in navigation systems. This attracted the attention of female customers, who are especially aware of the need for reduced fuel consumption and environmental consciousness.
By further introducing improved viewing of displays and advanced guidance, we expect to continuously improve and spread eco-drive functions.

To attain high-density packaging by
reducing the number of parts

In developing the X07, my primary role was to attain the targets of quality, cost, and schedule. This large company-wide project excited all of us when products were shipped out on time.
In addition to the new drive assist function, the X07 featured other diverse innovations. To fit maximum functions into limited 2DIN space, we carefully reviewed product fabrication and reduced the number of parts by 30%, saving weight through high-density packaging and reducing cost. We also implemented Green Procurement and lead-free soldering.
